It’s been a busy few weeks at the farm lately! We decided to attend the Wetaskiwin Rabbit and Poultry show last weekend to see what shows were like and took a couple of our rabbits there and entered them in all the classes. Our Jr. Flemish Giant buck Argent won 2 Best of Breed ribbons and a Best of Breed: Opposite Sex ribbon! We were thrilled since we hadn’t gone there expecting anything other than to learn alot and meet new people.

We learned we should always take extra cages with us to shows as there are always new and interesting critters for sale. I had been thinking about bantam chickens for awhile since their small size is fascinating. We found an Old English bantam rooster for sale who has very pretty feathers, so brought him home. I’ll build him his own display coop, and if I can find another one of the same breed but a hen, we might be able to get some tiny eggs out of them. Those would be awesome for me to play with and make into pysanky (Ukranian dyed eggs). We also came home with 6 more rabbits, all Harlequins. Turned out to be 2 girls and 4 boys, so we’ll keep the girls and the best boy once they’ve had a chance to flesh out (they were all pretty skinny)
